Name: Jim Caldwell Email: poet1960@comcast.net Date: Sun, 10 Jun 2007 Location: Albany, Oregon Comments: Was stationed at DM from Jan. 1979 to Mar. 1980 as an MMT in the propulsion shop. Would love to hear from some of my old cronies from the various different shops. I haven't seen many names from my old shop nor any of the people from my big tech school class of six people that got sent to Little Rock. Where are you guys, Ryan, Boulay, Brown and the rest? Worked with many great people and loved every minute of it. Anyone remember turtle races? Name: John Speckels Name: Eugene Oberst Name: Dennis Gehman Name: James Sorrell
My name is James Sorrell, I was a Deputy in the 570th SMS from Jun 1980 - July
1983 before and during the shutdown. My friends were Robert Lemoins, Walter
Geiss, Rick Dibagio, Mark Ertlemeier, The Varney and Staley brothers, Charles
Wright, Mike Soto, Scott Blanchard and a cast of hundreds, far too many to
name. Many of you may remember me as the guy whose wife Talitha, closed the
office door on Yabui and threatened his life. I became somewhat of a folk
hero after that!

Although I was not a part of the 390th SMW, I was welcomed as a brother, since I was a member of the 381st SMW at Mc Connell AFB. Since I last stepped out of 533-5 Launch Complex, at McConnell on 5/7/1968, I never thought that I would ever set foot again in a Titan II site, again. But through the efforts of the 390th, I was able to somewhat relive those memories of days so long ago in Tucson, and what fond memories they were. The stories were so good to hear and the memories so real. We all had much to tell with a short time to say it. There was only one person there that I could remember from my days at McConnell, and that was George Richard. He was a tour guide at the site. We had some real good stories to relate, but remembering names were too far off in the past to recall. So good to see the silo, launch duct, and walk through the cableway brought back the days of my youth. Most of all, to see the "bird" perched once again on the thrust ring. How I wished that more of the Titan II Missilemen from all the bases were able to attend. I know that the men and women of the 390th SMW Memorial Association would welcome all members, wherever they may be. I'm certainly proud to have been part of the 20th anniversary reunion of the Titan II deactivation and I hope on attending future reunions. "Peace was our profession, long live the memories of the Titan II". Thank you, men and women of the 390th SMW Memorial Association. Name: Edmund G. Memi

Hastings. The guestbook login would not record my entire email address. It is r.l.hastings@worldnet.att.net I have recently joined the Association of Air Force Missileers. For nearly thirty years, I have been engaged in a research project that may be of interest to missileers and security personnel. Since 1974, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) has been utilized by researchers to declassify thousands of documents relating to the U. S. Government’s unpublicized knowledge of the UFO phenomenon. A number of these documents concern UFO sightings near ICBM Launch Facilities and Launch Control Facilities during the Cold War era. Specifically, the documents summarize reports by Security Alert Team members—as well as launch, targeting, and maintenance personnel—describing repeated observations of luminous, silent, disc-shaped craft capable of hovering and high-velocity flight. The documents also confirm that while the UFOs maneuvered near the LFs and LCFs, they were frequently tracked on radar at several Air Force bases, including Malmstrom, Minot and Grand Forks. Furthermore, there are references to attempted intercepts of these objects by jet fighters. Since 1973, I have interviewed nearly thirty former missileers and security personnel who have described personal experiences identical to those referred to in the documents. To further my research, I am seeking information from former Air Force personnel who were involved in, or may have heard about, an incident involving UFOs and nuclear weapons. While I would prefer that my sources go on the record, I can assure those requesting anonymity of complete confidentiality. I would also welcome responses from persons who would just like to comment on my research. His crew launched the Titan from Vandenberg Thanksgiving day 1966. He was a member of the Pat Hand Crew. If there is anyone that still remembers him I'd love to hear from you. Dad passed away in 1990, but loved talking about his missile days. After Titans, he went to SRAM school at Chanute A.F.B. and we got sent to K.I. Sawyer.
